SMQ / Togo: 22 national executives from civil society, public and private administrations trained on ISO 14001 version 2015

The WAQSP, through its National Technical Coordination, organized, for the benefit of twenty-two (22) national executives from Togo, a training workshop on the international standard ISO 14001 version 2015. The workshop took place on 26, 27 and July 29, 2018 at the Entente room of CASEF in Lome. The objective is to equip these human resources at the country level so that they develop capacities in terms of standard 14001 version 2015 and contribute effectively, through their control of an environmental management system that includes the improvement of the environmental performance, to respect compliance obligations and the achievement of Togo's environmental objectives.

After the welcome of the National Technical Coordinator / WAQSP, the Director of the Cabinet of the Minister of Industry and Tourism, Mr. Germain Gnazou N'DAAM, representing his minister, welcomed the participation in the workshop of Twenty national executives from civil society, public and private administrations. According to him, this activity initiated by the WAQSP and conducted under the aegis of the Ministry of Industry and Tourism aims to strengthen the availability of expertise in Environmental Management System (EMS) in their country. "Togo, a member of the United Nations, is committed to the implementation of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Therefore, this training relates to the SDGs of the United Nations 2030 Agenda which address the following measures: combating climate change and its impacts; conserve and sustainably exploit the oceans, seas and marine resources; preserve and restore terrestrial ecosystems, including forests, land and biodiversity ", said the minister's representative. He added, "This training is timely and will allow Togo to have new skills and increase the number of its experts in the field of environmental management system that aims to protect the environment. and consumers, '' he said, before appealing to Togolese companies that have not yet set up an EMS within them, so that they do so in addition to the process of their certification. To the participants, he drew their attention to the hopes placed in them in order to achieve the objectives assigned to this workshop, which the nation expects to have a positive impact.

During the three days of training, participants were strengthened on various concepts and major elements related to this international standard.
