VALIDATED QUALITY POLICIES - NIGERIA

Nigeria now has a harmonized and applicable national quality policy that dates from 2013. The process has benefited from the prior development of a coherent and stable National Quality Infrastructure (NQI) with the creation of two institutions: National Accreditation Institute (NINAS) and the National Institute of Metrology. However, technical regulations and related compliance procedures are not yet fully systematized and enforced.

The Nigerian Quality Infrastructure Support Programme (NQIP), funded by the European Union and implemented by UNIDO, has the major objective of assisting Nigeria in the implementation of this policy.

Then, a "Green Paper" summarizing the legal framework is being drafted. Recognizing the quality deficiencies, the Nigerian Federal Government is counting on the implementation of this NQP for a national infrastructure of relevant quality that can better protect the environment, health and consumer safety.
