EMS/Benin: WAQSP builds capacity of national resource persons on ISO 14001: 2015

As part of its activities, the WAQSP organizes, from 6 to 8 August 2018, at the Directorate General of Industrial Development in Cotonou (Benin), a national training workshop to strengthen the capacities of about 20 resource persons according to the international standard in Environmental Management System (EMS), ISO 14001: 2015. The training is conducted by the UNIDO regional expert, Mr. Roger GNABRO from Côte d'Ivoire.

At the beginning, Mr. Youssouf MAMA SIKA, National Technical Coordinator of WAQSP, recalled that "this training is a follow-up to many others initiated on the standards, in particular that which relates to the ISO 9001 version 2015. And this thanks to the WAQSP, a programme for the benefit of ECOWAS Member States and Mauritania financed by the European Union and implemented by UNIDO ". He added that "this training brings together, among others, the auditors of the ECOWAS Quality Award, the representatives of companies polluting the environment, Beninese firms and movement for quality".

In the opinion of the expert trainer, this national workshop has the specific objective to equip these national resource persons, and to make them in the long run specialists able to regulate the ISO 14001 2015 version.

During the three days of training, participants will become familiar with the main changes made to this standard, which deals with environmental management.

At the end of the training scheduled for next Wednesday, certificates will be handed over to participants during an official closing ceremony.

This program is funded by the European Union with the technical support of UNIDO, the implementing Agency
