The National Quality Policy of Nigeria is adopted

The Federal Executive Council, the FEC, approved on Wednesday 27 January 2021, the national quality policy to end the rejection of Nigerian goods exported out of the country. The approval was given during the 31st virtual meeting of the Council chaired by President Muhammadu Buhari in the Council Chamber at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

It should be recalled that by September 2019, at the closing meeting of the EU-funded ECOWAS Quality Programme implemented by UNIDO_QI ), 9 of the 16 West African States had already adopted their national quality policies. UNIDO then invited stakeholders and actors to continue efforts to ensure that the remaining countries adopt their policies, already formulated and validated with UNIDO support.

Thanks to this step taken by Nigeria, the QNP map is now almost entirely green. Efforts must be maintained and the necessary support provided until all 16 countries adopt their national quality policies. This is the meaning of the message delivered by UNIDO in this video https://twitter.com/wacqip/status/1356247740943118336?s=20 by Bernard BAU, Manager of the West Africa Quality Programme (WACOMP-WACQIP) (PSQAO_WAQSP, finished in 2019) and today, of the WACOMP-WACQIP. According to him, this adoption is "... the culmination of a long and exciting process that started in 2013 the NQIP (National Quality Infrastructure Programme), implemented by UNIDO with the financial support of the European Union",
